Playful People Productions is a small, family-owned company that specializes in creating space for individuals and families of all ages to participate onstage and backstage in a safe environment with beautiful sets and costumes, professional designers and loving staff.
When Katie and I decided to do our all-time favorite production, Peter Pan, we wanted to create a vision with spectacular sets, costumes, props, and hair/makeup that would thrill and delight both cast and audience members. We hired our favorite scenic designer, George Pettit, who has created a magical Neverland for us that we are in the process of building. Jill Hoover has designed meticulous costumes to fit George’s designs, and Heather Morse is creating hair and make-up designs for a fabulous finished look. The casts are having fun dancing and singing and learning fight choreography from a professional, and we are just thrilled with the process and enthusiasm from actors of all ages.
We knew when we chose this show that we were going to take a leap of faith and figure out a way to pay for the nearly double costs of this show. If we raise enough funds, we will look into renting or purchasing wearable microphones – something parents have asked for a long time and that this show could greatly benefit from. We think we have come up with two fun ways of raising the funds that everyone can participate in!
The first is a Night in Neverland Concert, to be held at the Hoover Theatre on Monday, April 27 at 7pm. This show will feature current and past staff, as well as special guests, performing favorite Peter Pan songs in concert, with delicious appetizers and desserts. Please order your tickets now so we can have the sets and equipment ready for Tech Week. Tickets will be $50 each and are sale HERE.
You can also participate in the Designer’s Circle of Sponsorships. It has many levels of giving to match the many different families we have touched. It is our hope that if Playful People has given anything to your family, you consider helping out in any way you can. In order to include all thanks in our show materials, we ask that donations be received by Friday, April 17. You can find more information and a donation form HERE.
We hope you will assist us in this fun endeavor!
